Kobayashi - Strange Lights And Resolutions (2005)

Photobucket

A trippy jazz band based in Montreal with a very curious name as apparently there is no one in the band bearing the Kobayashi last name. A little bit jazz, a little bit rock, and a little bit funk, Kobayashi's "Strange Lights and Resolutions" is indeed something to listen to. Comprised of seven musicians playing 18 different instruments plus one vocalist (Rosina Kazi), the band has an innumerable amount of influences pounding down on their sound. To describe the group maybe as electronica with real instruments or rather jazz with electronics as they played the soprano sax, turntables, Roland XP-30 synthesizer, and flute to live in harmony. The band performed extensively throughout Northern America, however, "Strange Lights and Resolutions" is their first and last full lenght album as they were disbanded in early 2007.
