Matalex

I. Freedom (2002)



Matalex was Alex Gunia's superb but shortlived Jazz fusion group in the 1990's with Mat Junior, Arnd Geise and Jost Nickel. The band opened for Billy Cobham performances in Europe and made headlines with their funk styling, rock jamming brand of music which they described as Jazz Grunge. "Freedom" was the last of Matalex album as Alex Gunia moved on to his other projects.

Canada's Jazz Funk outfits has released two previous CD's to some rave reviews. The self titled CD in 1998 and Candyshop released in 2002 on Maximum Jazz. This is their aptly named third release "The Doctor is In" as Dr. Lonnie Smith is on board on the Hammond B3.

Sandboy

I. Wanderlust (2004)



Sandboy is Tobias Meggle formerly with Beanfield. "Wanderlust" released in 2004 is Sandboy’s first full album; it garnered rave responses from listeners and fellow artists. The album developed in 2 years of collaboration with 5 female and 2 male vocalists who sing and speak in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish. All tracks consist of a combination of electronic and acoustic elements, played by 10 different musicians on drums, percussion, double and electric bass, acoustic and electric guitar, violin, bandoneon, melodica, flugelhorn and trumpet.
