Jet Set Productions - Bitter Sweet (2001)

Jet Set Productions is the solo project of Señor Suzuki of Shizuoka. His music began as the vocal/sax in ska band 'Mustang A.K.A' Making their major debut in 1990, their sound slowly morphed into electric dub under the influence of names such as Masssive Attack and Beats International, then in 1995 he started producing his own tracks as well as continuing as sax player for live band 'Reggae Disco Rockers' before being completely sucked into drum'n'bass on first listen in 1996, and even when playing live, it's still the live drum'n'bass 'session' which forms the basis for Jet Set Productions.
'Bitter Sweet' is a transformation as to seem to be from a different artist altogether. There are no 'pure' drum'n'bass tracks, but instead everything from deep house, live jazzy breaks, Afro-latin crossover tracks, rich, stringy vocal jazz, abstract dub and Afro-bossa-edged dubby reggae, every track presenting a different world, uniting and mixing many styles, yet without confusing them.

Seven Eleven - The Come Out (1996)

With the help of guitarist and producer Menace (USA), the group released their debut album The Come Out in 1996. This record received outstanding acclaims and after their successful evening-packed full-o-funk tour with Menace as special guest, Seven Eleven was the European version of funk-artists such as George Clinton and Bootsy Collins. No deep lyrics, just plain butt-shaking grooves, loaded wah-wah guitar, soulful lead vocals, energetic raps and heavy keyboards supplemented by a thick layer of thumb-slapping bass and groove-in-da-pocket drums.

Count Basic - Bigger & Brighter (2002)

The story of this band began with the song "All Time High," a radio hit of the '90s and was originally a project by Austrian guitarist Peter Legat . Though their songs give away a range of influences – from Galliano and Incognito to the Brand New Heavies – they definitely brought something new to acid jazz.

The band also have members of the Juju extended family, keyboardist Nathaniel Lee and Judy Spears in their line up. The Landrus Project - True Colors (2003)

The Landrus Project was formed in year of 2000 by Brian Landrus who is a woodwind specialist, composer/arranger, and educator. He somehow managed to bring some talented and experienced musicians to play in this rather eclectic ensemble. This multi-flavored ensemble features a core of eight musicians, but sometimes has as many as 14 playing on stage together. The diversity comes across more clearly in True Colors, the group’s second release. The album heaviest overtone is Jazz , as Landrus himself used to play in a Jazz quartet, but it isn’t that jazz that we expect to hear from any jazz outfit. The band borrows features from soul, funk, big band, hip-hop and classical--in other words, whatever they like. There's a gritty female vocals from Sheherezade Stone , flaming scratch work from DJ Ecto One and of course Landrus’ woodwind work . It should be noted that the band members have all played individually with ‘heavy cats’ in the entertainment and jazz worlds or with world-class talent at UNR competitions and here they play very well together. Landrus writes a majority of the tracks, sometimes up to three a week. He brings the skeleton of a melody or a progression to the band, and they have an inspiration free-for-all. The end product the album's 18 tracks in all, glide through easily , not a difficult listen as the different sounds blend nicely.

Urban Species - Blanket (1998)

"Formed in Tottenham, London, England, in the late 80s, Urban Species were tipped as the next potential breakthrough in UK hip-hop. They originally comprised lead rapper Mint (Peter Akinrinola) and DJ Renegade (b. Winston Small). Toaster Slim (b. Rodney Green) later joined. The trio started to produce small runs of white labels, distributing them under the names of either Mint or Renegade. This earned them a reputation among both pirate radio stations and clubs. Even the hip New York stations Kiss and WBLS picked up on one of their tracks, "It's My Thing", but they were hamstrung by finances and unable to capitalize. They came to the attention of Talkin" Loud Records boss Gilles Peterson, who signed them in 1991." (Discogs)

It's been a while we never heard anything from them. This is their last release and it's dating back to 1998. Some young talents were featured in this 1998 album among others Imogen Heap, Elizabeth Troy, and Jeffery Darnell. Imogen Heap appeared on the title track and this was way before Frou Frou or Speak For Yourself.
