Dag - Righteous (1994)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

DAG were a funk outfits from Raleigh, NC. They were : Bobby Patterson (Bass, Vocal), Brian Dennis (Guitar), Doug Jervey (keyboardist) and Kenny Soule (drumm). The foursome played the local scene, honing their skills and chemistry in bars and other watering holes for several years and garnered a cult following around their hometown. The band eventually earned the attention of the major labels; they signed with Columbia, releasing their debut album Righteous in 1994. It was a modest regional success and earned some positive reviews in national publications. Their 1998 follow-up, Apartment #635, was not as effective, though it still received some critical acclaim. A six-song compilation album, called A Guide to Groovy Lovin', was also released that year. The band split soon after due to changes in musical preferences.

  3. Lol yeah they are caucasian but does it matter now ? and I am not sure if they are a 'funkateer' in the sense of George Clinton or Bootsy Collins.

  4. They are surely NOT to compare with P-Funk but their 1st album has some magical funky feel inside - I just love it though it's more in the direction of pop-funk.
