Kellylee Evans - Fight or Flight ? (2006)

An eclectic debut album from Canadian born Kellylee Evans with a very smooth style that slides through jazz, soul, R & B, and blues evading any categorization. However, she definitely has the delivery of a fine jazz singer -- her rich voice is relaxed but shows remarkable control and depth. The musical backing ranges from a light rumba to a bit of mainstream jazz to hints of airy funk and reggae. The music is all original, and her compositions are also first-rate. In 2004 she was awarded second place in the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocals Competition, held at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The judges – Quincy Jones, Al Jarreau, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kurt Elling, Jimmy Scott and Flora Purim chose Kellylee out of a pool of over 160 gifted vocalists from around the world.

  2. Hello beequeen, i enjoy very much your blog. Very nice music. Do you have music from Naoko Terai, Rie Akagi or Tim Weisberg? From Tim I am looking for the "Undercover" and "Naked Eyes" albums.

I myself started recently a blog dedicated to Salsa and Contemporary and Latin Jazz from the 80's. I just started adding music. You can access it at http://salsa-jazz.blogspot.com/

    Regards,
